2. Prenatal Asana Practice
Not all yoga poses are suitable during pregnancy. You will learn how to modify traditional yoga practices into safe prenatal sequences.
Key focus areas:
- Gentle stretching and strengthening
- Safe alignment for each trimester
- Use of props (bolsters, blocks, cushions)
- Avoiding contraindicated poses
The aim is to support the mother’s body without strain.
3. Breathing Techniques for Pregnancy
Breathwork becomes even more important during pregnancy and childbirth.
You will learn:
- Gentle pranayama techniques
- Breath awareness for relaxation
- Breathing techniques for labor support
These practices help reduce anxiety and improve oxygen flow for both mother and baby.
4. Emotional and Mental Support
Pregnancy is not just physical—it’s deeply emotional.
This part of the course teaches:
- How to create a safe and supportive space
- Communication skills with expectant mothers
- Stress and anxiety management
- Building trust and connection
You learn to guide with empathy, not just instruction.
5. Meditation and Relaxation Techniques
Meditation plays a key role in prenatal care.
You will practice:
- Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)
- Guided meditation
- Visualization techniques
- Mother–baby bonding practices
These techniques help improve emotional well-being and inner calm.
6. Teaching Methodology
You will learn how to confidently teach prenatal classes.
This includes:
- Designing safe class sequences
- Structuring classes for different trimesters
- Verbal cues and demonstration
- Managing group classes
You will also practice teaching and receive feedback.
7. Ayurveda and Yogic Lifestyle
Many Mysore-based schools include elements of Ayurveda.
Topics may include:
- Diet during pregnancy
- Daily routines (dinacharya)
- Lifestyle recommendations
- Natural wellness practices
