The term "Garba" refers to the womb, and "Samskara" refers to a set of rituals or practices aimed at purifying, nurturing, and enhancing the development of the child in the womb, both physically and emotionally. Key Benefits of Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga

Key Benefits of Prenatal Yoga:

Prenatal yoga focuses on preparing the body and mind for the challenges of pregnancy, childbirth, and the early stages of motherhood. It helps expectant mothers stay active, reduce discomfort, and enhance their overall well-being.

1. Physical Strength & Flexibility:

Prenatal yoga helps build strength in key areas like the hips, pelvic floor, and core, which are crucial during childbirth. It also improves flexibility, reducing common pregnancy discomforts like back pain and tight hips.

2. Breathing & Relaxation:

Techniques such as deep breathing (pranayama) are taught to help manage stress, anxiety, and discomfort. This also helps during labor. Learning how to relax both physically and mentally is key to coping with the stresses of pregnancy.

3. Pelvic Floor Health:

Prenatal yoga focuses on strengthening and toning the pelvic floor muscles to support the growing baby and prepare for childbirth.

4. Posture & Alignment:

With the growing belly, posture can suffer. Yoga helps pregnant women maintain proper alignment to avoid strain on the back, neck, and shoulders.

5. Bonding with Baby:

Expectant mothers are encouraged to connect with their babies, both through mindful movement and by focusing on their breath and sensations within the body.

Key Benefits of Postnatal Yoga:

Postnatal yoga focuses on recovery, healing, and regaining strength after childbirth. It helps new mothers rebuild core strength, improve flexibility, and address common issues like pelvic floor weakness, lower back pain, and emotional stress.

1. Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation:

After childbirth, it’s important to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Postnatal yoga includes exercises that support pelvic health and prevent issues like incontinence.

2. Core Strengthening:

Postnatal yoga helps restore core strength that is often weakened during pregnancy. It includes gentle abdominal exercises that focus on the deep core muscles, which are crucial for overall stability.

3. Back and Posture Relief:

New mothers often experience back pain due to breastfeeding and carrying their babies. Yoga can help realign the spine, relieve tension, and build strength in the back and shoulders.

4. Stress Reduction:

Postnatal yoga includes relaxation and mindfulness techniques to help mothers reduce stress, increase energy, and improve emotional health.

5. Reconnecting with the Body:

After childbirth, many women struggle with body image or emotional changes. Postnatal yoga offers a gentle and supportive environment to reconnect with the body and mind.

Dress Code

what-to-wear-to-yoga

We strongly recommend wearing loose, breathable cotton clothing, allowing your skin—and especially the navel area—to breathe freely and remain comfortable throughout the extensive practice sessions.

For these reasons, we discourage wearing leggings, which are often made from synthetic fabrics treated with PFAS ("forever chemicals")—known to cause hormone disruption, thyroid dysfunction, and even certain cancers—and BPA, another endocrine-disrupting chemical linked to long-term health risks.
